Seb Pipe Trio - Music and Matisse
'Music and Matisse' was recorded on 12th April 2005 at the Royal Academy of Arts, London in conjunction with their exhibition 'Matisse - His Art and his Textiles'. The CD features original arrangements of melodies from countries including: Romania, Iran, China and France.

The inspiration behind this music is from the 'Matisse, His Art and His Textiles' exhibition which took place at the Royal Academy of Arts, London between 5th March - 30th May 2005. The French Fauvist artist Henri Matisse collected textiles from countries such as Romania, Iran and China as a source of inspiration. The music in this CD represents these influences through melodies, arrangements and improvisations.
"Colours have their own distinctive beauty that you have to preserve, just as in music you try to preserve sounds.
It is a question of organization, of finding the arrangement that will keep the beauty and freshness of the colour."
"True jazz has a number of excellent qualities: the gift of improvisation, of life, of harmony with the listening audience. "
